Replace your light bulbs with LEDs
Traditional incandescent light bulbs consume a lot of electricity; wasting much of it. This is especially true in large spaces with large numbers of occupants. Newer bulbs, such as Compact Fluorescent Lights ("CFLs") consume one fifth of the energy used by traditional bulbs. Switching to CFL bulbs is one of the lowest cost ways to get huge savings on your electricity bill.
What You Need to Do
-
Step 1Take examples of your existing bulbs to a hardware store that has a wide range of CFL and other energy efficient light bulbs. Get help matching your existing bulb and its color. Customers that are very sensitive to the color of their lights should consider changing just one or two bulbs to try out the options - perhaps starting outside. Note: Do not put traditional incandescent bulbs into light fixtures designed for high-efficiency light bulbs.
-
Step 2Be sure to select ENERGY STAR Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs)
